Want to recommend a great fic, but don’t have time to write a big gushy post about it? Stow it here in The Atheneum!
The Atheneum is formatted to be a submission based rec blog where anyone can link fics to post and we’ll format the recs so that they are quick and consistent. There’s no theme to the blog aside from “Quality with a capital Q,” so the collection will be a good mix of ships, writers, and content that all have that something that makes them stand out. The mission statement is to emphasize effort and presentation so that good examples can be read and recognized. Also, since there are so many new participants in the fandom at large, great old fics get buried, and great new writers get missed! Let’s keep that from happening.
The fics can be from anywhere: Archive of Our Own, the Homestuck Kink Meme, tumblr, google docs, and so on. From lightning fast update fics to old classics, little ficlets to sweeping epics; the only requirement is awesome.
There’s a good chunk of recs on the blog already to give the blog a decent start, so check ‘em out. And a signal boost would be greatly appreciated. Great fics are meant to be shared and celebrated!
So one day lantadyme and I were chatting about how it’s difficult for one person to read all the good fics now that fandom is fast, furious, and HUMONGOUS. Well, we figured why not consolidate everyone’s efforts?
